Our Recycling Process

Environmentally responsible vehicle recycling with a 95% recycling rate

Professional Vehicle Depollution & Recycling

At RVS, we follow strict environmental guidelines to ensure every vehicle is recycled responsibly. We're committed to achieving the highest recycling rates while minimizing environmental impact. Our state-of-the-art facility and trained technicians ensure that up to 95% of every vehicle is recycled or reused.

Our 8-Step Recycling Process

1

Vehicle Collection & Registration

Your vehicle is collected free of charge and brought to our facility. We register all vehicle details and issue you with a receipt. All paperwork is completed, and we notify the DVLA on your behalf, providing you with a Certificate of Destruction (CoD).

2

Fluid Drainage & Depollution

All hazardous fluids are carefully drained and stored in compliance with environmental regulations. This includes engine oil, brake fluid, coolant, fuel, transmission fluid, and air conditioning refrigerants. These fluids are either recycled or disposed of safely through licensed waste carriers.

3

Battery & Catalytic Converter Removal

Vehicle batteries are removed and sent to specialist recycling facilities where they're broken down and the lead is recovered. Catalytic converters, which contain precious metals like platinum, palladium, and rhodium, are carefully removed and sent for metal recovery.

4

Reusable Parts Identification

Our experienced technicians identify and carefully remove parts that are in good condition and can be reused. This includes engines, gearboxes, body panels, lights, interior components, and more. These parts are cleaned, tested, and made available for sale, extending their useful life.

5

Tire & Wheel Removal

Tires are removed and sent to specialist tire recycling facilities where they're shredded and repurposed into products like playground surfaces, road surfaces, and fuel. Alloy wheels are separated and sent for metal recycling, while steel wheels go with the main metal recycling stream.

6

Material Separation

The remaining vehicle shell is processed to separate different materials. Plastics, glass, rubber, and textiles are sorted and sent to appropriate recycling facilities. Ferrous metals (steel) and non-ferrous metals (aluminum, copper) are separated for metal recycling.

7

Metal Crushing & Baling

The metal shell is crushed and compacted into manageable bales. These metal bales are then sent to steel mills where they're melted down and reformed into new steel products. This process significantly reduces the need for virgin steel production, saving energy and resources.

8

Documentation & Compliance

We maintain detailed records of every vehicle processed, including all materials recycled and waste disposed of. Regular audits ensure we meet all environmental standards. You receive your Certificate of Destruction, and we notify the DVLA to remove your liability for the vehicle.
